REDUCE OVERFISHING AND
THE USE OF DESTRUCTIVE FISHING PRACTICES

photo collage of overfishing and illegal fishing practices

EcoGov focuses on linking the sustainable yield of fish stock with the capacity of commercial and municipal fishing fleets, and linking the issuance/renewal of licenses with performance. In addition, activities support local governments to establish and operate marine sanctuaries to help depleted fish populations regenerate and to carry out "bantay dagat" operations to reduce the use of dynamite and other destructive fishing practices.
