Capiz holds 'Capiztahan sa Ikaayong Lawas'

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 19 (PIA) -- Health programs in Capiz will be showcased this month, courtesy of a public-private partnership.
 
Provincial Health Information Officer Joeffry Espiritu disclosed that through an activity dubbed “Capiztahan sa Ikaayong Lawas” on August 31, health service providers, national and local government officials, and other stakeholders will come together to assess the different health program implementation in Capiz.
 
He said that the Capiztahan sa Ikaayong Lawas will highlight the province’s Family Health Month celebration this August.
 
Espiritu explained that this is the second year already that Capiz is holding said activity after Capiz Governor Victor Tanco issued Executive Order 42, which aims to increase public awareness on the significance of health through improved access to quality health services.
 
Anchored on the theme “Kalusugan Pangkalahatan sa Capiz,” the event will be participated in by about 250 Capiceños. It will showcase successful health programs such as maternal and child health, expanded program on immunization, nutrition, filariasis, dengue prevention, tuberculosis and family planning, he said.
 
In addition, top five best performing local government units on health program implementation will likewise be recognized during the celebration.
 
Espiritu also said that the local government units will also have an exhibit on their innovative practices on health promotion.
 
He stressed that this year’s event here is in partnership with the One Capiz Foundation and the Gerry Roxas Foundation.
 
According to Espiritu, GRF is the local replicating agent of USAID-Philippines project on HealthPRO.
 
Expected to grace the one-day affair in Capiz are representatives from the USAID, Department of Health and local government officials led by Governor Tanco. (JJCM/BG/PIA6-Capiz)
