IMPROVEMENT OF GOVERNANCE AND SOCIAL SERVICES

inaguration of a government services project by USAID

USAID helps the ARMM government, and local government units (LGUs) in the ARMM, to become more professional, effective, transparent and autonomous. Under the Transparent Accountable Governance (TAG) Project, USAID is providing assistance to increase transparency and accountability at the local level and to improve public service delivery in the ARMM and throughout Mindanao. USAID also supports the Barangay Justice Service System (BJSS) Project to develop local capacity for alternative dispute resolution, improving access to justice for marginalized groups. USAID may also explore supporting additional university-based centers for good governance in Mindanao.

Under GEM, USAID improves education by providing computers with internet connections through partnerships with the private sector. USAID also has a matching grant program with Parent-Teacher Community Associations to fund education improvements in schools.
