Budget

The Unites States Government is the biggest grant donor to the Philippines, with nearly $9.5 Billion in foreign assistance since 1946. Of this amount, about $4.4 Billion is USAID and predecessor programs' assistance.

Our assistance approach was developed within the context of the U.S. Foreign Assistance Framework, supporting the goals of peace and security, governing justly and democratically, investing in people, economic growth and humanitarian assistance. With close historic and people-to-people ties with the Philippines, the U.S. enjoys a vibrant and strong bilateral relationship. Our assistance programs are an important tool in maintaining this relationship and ensuring effective dialogue and cooperation with national and local governments, the private sector, civil society, and other donors. In FY 2009, $96.04 Million will be made available for our bilateral assistance programs and as grants to non-government organizations.
